On June 16 2022, OTANI Naoto, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Japan, held an online meeting with the Right Honourable Richard Wagner, P.C., Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada.
They actively exchanged views on efforts and good practices by both countries, in various areas, including response to the COVID-19 pandemic, open justice to the public, and use of information and communication technology.
The online meeting continued in a very friendly atmosphere till the end, and Chief Justice OTANI said “I hope the judicial exchanges between two countries progressively develop”. Chief Justice Wagner agreed, and expressed his gratitude to Chief Justice OTANI who will retire very soon.
