Supreme Court of Japan > About the Supreme Court > Topics > Notice on Measures Taken at Courts to Prevent the Spread of COVID-19
Courts have asked visitors to wear a face mask, but from March 13, 2023, the decision of whether to wear a face mask will be left to the discretion of each individual visitor, in principle.
Please note that courts may ask you to wear a face mask in exceptional cases.
Infection control measures except for wearing a face mask will continue to be implemented as before. When you visit court, please cooperate with these measures, such as washing or sanitizing your hands.
If you feel unwell, we request that you refrain from visiting court (if you are unable to appear at court on a date for proceedings due to feeling unwell, please inform the division in charge at the court of your case).
The General Secretariat of the Supreme Court has developed a policy for implementing infection control measures at court, based on knowledge gained from experts in public health and other relevant fields, and disseminated it to all courts across the country.
