On March 4, 2015, six judges from the Supreme People’s Court of the People’s Republic of China visited the IP High Court, including Judge Jin Kesheng, the Deputy Chief Judge of the Intellectual Property Tribunal (Third Civil Trial Division), Judge Zhang Shengzu, a senior judge, and Judge Zhou Xiang, the presiding judge of the IP Tribunal. The IP Tribunal (Third Trial Division) of the Supreme People’s Court handles intellectual property cases.
The visitors met with Chief Judge Ryuichi Shitara, Judge Misao Shimizu, the Presiding Judge of the Second Division, and two other judges of the IP High Court. The visitors listened intently to the explanations given by Chief Judge Shitara and other judges regarding the current situation of IP litigations in Japan, the relationship between litigation seeking rescission of JPO decisions on patent rights and patent infringement litigation, and the tasks of the judicial research officials. They engaged in a lively Q&A session on these topics. The visitors showed high interest in IP litigation in Japan and the measures taken by the court.
