Visit by International Students under the WCO Scholarship Program
On April 27, 2017, international students (25 Customs officials from various countries around the world) participating in the WCO (World Customs Organization) Scholarship Program visited the IP High Court as part of the lectures of the Program, “Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement at the Border.”
After observing an explanatory session of a case pending before the Second Division of the IP High Court in a courtroom, the students were given an explanation from Judge Tatsubumi Sato of the Division on the outline of the IP High Court, including the active use of technical advisers. They then took a tour of the office of judicial research officials with a brief explanation on the Judicial Research Officials System.
The students showed great interest in intellectual property litigation in Japan and had an active Q&A session on the organization of the IP High Court, the current situation with regard to case handling, and an outline of the case that they observed.
