Visit by Participants of the Meiji University Law in Japan Program 2018
On July 11, 2018, the participants of the Meiji University Law in Japan Program 2018 (25 university students from 13 countries) visited the IP High Court.
After observing a case in a courtroom, the visitors were given a briefing by Judge Masaru Yamakado and Judge Takuya Hazui on the outline of the case and also asked questions on a variety of topics, including procedures of IP-related lawsuits and methods for submitting evidence in such lawsuits, methods for judges to acquire expert technical knowledge, and the system of final appeal to the Supreme Court. After that, the visitors observed a technical explanatory session on a date for oral arguments that was conducted for a patent lawsuit in another courtroom.
