Closing of Judicial Symposium on Intellectual Property/Tokyo 2019

The three-day program of Judicial Symposium on Intellectual Property/Tokyo 2019 was concluded on September 27th, 2019. At the closing of the symposium, Chief Judge Makiko Takabe of the IP High Court delivered closing remarks on behalf of the organizers.
The IP High Court took charge of the program for the first day, which was comprised of mock trials conducted by judges and attorneys from Japan, the Republic of Korea, China, Australia, and India on the theme of claim construction in patent infringement litigation, followed by a panel discussion based on the results of the mock trials. The first day program attracted over around 500 participants and was successfully completed.
The program of the second day, which was about copyright infringement, and the program of the third day, which was about judgment of inventive step also attracted a large number of participants. The number of participants totaled around 1100 in three days.
