Visit by AIPPI President and Other Guests
On June 4, 2019, 11 guests visited the IP High Court, including: from AIPPI (International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property), Ms. Renata Righetti Pelosi, President, Mr. Shoichi Okuyama, Second Vice President, Ms. Olga Sirakova, Secretary General, and Mr. Jonathan Osha, Reporter General; and from AIPPI Japan (International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property of Japan), Mr. Kenichi Nagasawa, President, and Mr. Koichi Tsujii and Mr. Yuzuru Okabe, Vice Presidents.
After opening remarks by Chief Judge Makiko Takabe and President Righetti, Chief Judge Takabe gave an outline of the IP High Court focusing on the court proceedings, which are supported by expert knowledge, and the present situation of globalization and information dissemination by the IP High Court. Afterward, the guests actively exchanged views with Chief Judge Takabe, Judge Yasuhiko Kobayashi and Judge Sumiko Sekine with regard to a wide range of topics, such as the significance of international exchange carried out by the IP High Court, the impact of introduction of information technology on IP litigation, the effective use of amicus briefs, and how to acquire publicity for the IP High Court's website.
