On September 30, 2019, President Guo Kun and nine delegates of the China Trademark Association, with President Yoshihiro Shimizu and seven members of the Japan Patent Attorneys Association, visited the IP High Court. After welcoming the guests, Chief Judge Makiko Takabe explained an overview of the IP systems in Japan and other topics.
President Guo introduced the organization and major activities of the China Trademark Association, and the members actively asked questions about various topics including the procedure of service of a complaint and other documents in a foreign country, the method of calculation of the amount of damages in trademark infringement lawsuits, and the actual situation of arbitration and mediation that are available as alternative dispute resolution procedures.
