IP High Court Chief Judge's Visit to the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York (SDNY)

On April 19, 2019, IP High Court Chief Judge Makiko Takabe visited the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York (S.D.N.Y). This is one of the four district courts in New York, and it is said to be one of the most influential and active district courts in the United States because the Southern District, which is its jurisdictional area, embraces the country’s financial center including Wall Street. Chief Judge Takabe exchanged opinions with Judge James Paul Oetken who is in charge of dealing with all kinds of civil and criminal cases, which contain a fairly good number of patent cases. They talked about various topics, such as that whether or not attorneys' plain arguments could greatly affect judges' workload in explaining a case to the jury.
