On July 5, 2019, seven guests from the Boards of Appeal of the European Patent Office (EPO) including Mr. Albert Lindner, Chairman of the Technical Board of Appeal, visited the IP High Court.
After opening remarks by Chief Judge Makiko Takabe and Chairman Lindner, Chief Judge Takabe provided an outline of the IP High Court, focusing on international communications and information dissemination, and a judicial research official explained how judicial research officials take part in patent litigation. After that, the guests actively asked questions on various topics such as the relationship between proceedings at the JPO and litigation at courts.
