On September 29, 2015, Mr. Guenter Schmitz and four others from the German Patent and Trade Mark Office visited the IP High Court.

Mr. Guenter Schmitz and others provided information on the outline of the German Patent and Trade Mark Office and introduced the overview of IP litigation system including the Federal Patent Court of Germany. In return, Chief Judge Ryuichi Shitara and other judges of the IP High Court introduced the characteristics and the current situation of the IP litigation system in Japan. The presentations were followed by an exchange of questions and answers from both sides, concerning matters such as the actual practices of the IP systems in Japan and Germany.
