On March 18, 2016, Prof. Dr. Peter Meier-Beck, Presiding Judge of the German Federal Court of Justice visited the IP High Court. Chief Judge Ryuichi Shitara gave explanations on the IP litigation system in Japan, structure of the IP High Court, technical advisors system, judicial research officials system, characteristics of IP litigation, circumstances of judicial settlement, and other matters. Then, Judge Meier-Beck and judges of the IP High Court actively exchanged opinions. They discussed judicial settlement, damage assessment, NPE litigation, the doctrine of equivalent, and other matters.
