On July 30, 2014, IP High Court Chief Judge Ryuichi Shitara visited the Federal Judicial Center, and had a meeting with the Director, Judge Jeremy Fogel, and other officials of the Center.

The Federal Judicial Center is the research and education agency of the federal judicial system. Chief Judge Shitara and Judge Fogel exchanged information concerning systems for improving the capabilities of judges in Japan and the United States. Dr. Joe Cecil introduced the contents of the training materials provided to federal court judges for their study on patent infringement litigation and other judicial procedures. The materials were also offered to Chief Judge Shitara.
