Intellectual Property Workshop Held
On April 21, 2006 an Intellectual Property Workshop was held at the IP High Court. Judge Kent A. Jordan of the United States District Court for the District of Delaware and US lawyer Mr. Barry E. Bretschneider, made speeches under the theme of “Procedural and Substantive Aspects of US Trial Proceedings in Patent Litigation,” addressing claim construction and various related issues. Following their speech, a discussion session was held. Participants, including Professor Toshiko Takenaka of the University of Washington School of Law and Judge Ryuichi Shitara of the Tokyo District Court who took part as commentators, exchanged frank opinions on the current situation regarding patent litigation in Japan and the United States.
