Delegation from PRC Visits IP High Court
On September 6, 2006, a delegation from the People’s Republic of China visited the IP High Court. The delegation came to Japan for the purpose of conducting research in relation to the revision of the Patent Law of PRC and participating in a symposium.
The delegation, led by Director Yin Xintian of the Legal Affairs Department of the State Intellectual Property Office, and including Judge Wang Yongchang of the Third Civil Tribunal (Intellectual Property Rights Tribunal) of the Supreme People’s Court of the PRC, met with the Chief Judge of the IP High Court, following which they engaged impassioned discussions with the judges of our Court regarding the desirable appeal court specializing in intellectual property cases, as well as on the nature and procedure of lawsuits against decisions by the board panels of the patent office. During the discussions, the IP High Court judges explained the outline and history of the IP High Court, as well as basic practices and current issues regarding lawsuits against JPO Board decisions in invalidation hearings.
