On September 24, 2009, Judge Oliver Schon of the District Court of Munich I in Germany visited the IP High Court.
Following a discussion with Chief Judge Tomokatsu Tsukahara, Judge Schon observed actual procedures and listened intently to overviews of cases given by judges and judicial researchers, and explanations of actual practice related to IP lawsuits covering aspects such as the distinct characteristics of case handling in Japanese courts, etc.
