IP High Court Judge Toshichika Yaguchi participated in the 2010 High Technology Protection Summit held in Seattle, Washington, USA on July 23 and 24. This international conference was hosted by the Center for Advanced Study and Research on Intellectual Property (CASRIP), a research institute affiliated with the University of Washington.
Judge Yaguchi gave a presentation on the patent eligibility of software in Japan during the panel discussion "Software Patent Eligibility in Japan," which formed part of the second session, titled "Software Patent Eligibility in Europe and Japan," held on the first day of the conference.
