On May 30, 2013, members of the research group on intellectual property strategy, which consists of officials from the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Information of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, visited the IP High Court. Representatives from Japan explained the court system for handling intellectual property cases in Japan, focusing on matters such as the organization and jurisdiction of the court and systems related to judicial research officials and technical advisers. The representatives from Myanmar asked many questions during a lively Q&A session, with regard to how to develop the expertise of judges, statistics on the number of cases handled by the Court and the time required to handle each case, and on ideal substantive law for intellectual property rights.
