Visit by Members of the Legislative Affairs Commission of China
On October 22, 2013, a group of ten people consisting mainly of members of the Legislative Affairs Commission (a standing committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China) and judges from the Supreme People’s Court visited the IP High Court to study copyright-related cases in Japan and exchange opinions.
Presiding Judge Ryuichi Shitara and other judges from the IP High Court explained the current status concerning jurisdiction mechanisms in copyright-related cases, characteristics of trial proceedings, methods of determining damages, and various types of statistics in Japan. Then both sides exchanged opinions concerning the latest trends in Chinese and Japanese cases.
