Visit by International Students from the Overseas Study Program of the World Customs Organization (WCO)
On April 24, 2014, international students from the overseas study program of the World Customs Organization (WCO) (19 customs officers from 19 countries worldwide) visited the IP High Court as a part of a lecture on “Border enforcement with regard to goods infringing intellectual property rights,” one of the subjects of the program.
The students observed trial proceedings and received an explanation of the case they observed, given by a judge of the First Division of the IP High Court, and also were provided with a brief overview of the court system and the IP litigation systems in Japan by Chief Judge Toshiaki Iimura of the IP High Court. They engaged in a lively Q&A session on these topics. The students subsequently had the opportunity to tour the Court facilities.
