The Judicial Symposium on Intellectual Property / Tokyo 2020 (JSIP2020)
The Judicial Symposium on Intellectual Property / Tokyo 2020 (JSIP2020) was held on January 21, 2021.
In order to prevent COVID-19 from infecting, Judges, administrative patent judges and attorneys participated online from foreign countries and organizations. We have delivered live stream of this Symposium.
At the opening of the symposium, Justice KOIKE Hiroshi of the Supreme Court delivered opening remarks on behalf of the organizers.
In the court section presented by Intellectual Property High Court, picking up on “The Current State of the Doctrine of Equivalents in Patent Infringement Suits” and “Operation of Court Proceedings under the Impacts of COVID-19” as themes, Judges and attorneys from Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany held panel discussion.
Under the theme of “The Current State of the Doctrine of Equivalents in Patent Infringement Suits”, using a Patent Infringement Suit related to hollow golf club head as material, we held comparative discussion about legal system and the present situation concerning the Doctrine of Equivalents in each countries.
In addition, under the theme of “Operation of Court Proceedings under the Impacts of COVID-19”, we have exchanged the latest information how to operate court proceedings under the Impacts of COVID-19 in each countries, it was meaningful opportunity for every participants.
