Visit by a Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and others

  • On May 23, 2024, Circuit Judge Kara F. Stoll of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit visited the IP High Court of Japan, together with Prof. Polk Wagner of the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, Prof. Herbert Zech of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and Prof. Christoph Rademacher of the Waseda University.
    Circuit Judge Kara F. Stoll and others took a tour of courtrooms and facilities of the business court and exchanged views with Japanese judges of the IP High Court and the Intellectual Property Division of the Tokyo District Court regarding the characteristics of the proceedings of patent-related lawsuits, methods by which judges obtain expert knowledge, and other issues, while confirming common points and differences between Japan and the United States.
