On December 9, 2021, an online seminar was held between the officials in charge of the Court of Cassation, France, and those of the Supreme Court, Japan. This was part of the initiatives to strengthen the relationship and interaction between the judiciaries of the two countries, following the agreement reached in the online meeting between First President Chantal Arens of the Court of Cassation and Chief Justice OTANI Naoto of the Supreme Court held on June 11, 2021.
The main topic of this seminar was digital transformation of judicial proceedings. The participants made presentations on the actual situations of their respective countries, focusing on the operation of and technological challenges in digital transformation of judicial proceedings and the provision of open data on court decisions. They engaged in a lively discussion, and the seminar ended a great success. The seminar was also viewed by judges and officials of courts across Japan.
